Manager Phil Parkinson says Wrexham won’t pay over the odds for new players this summer as they prepare for life in League One.
Despite the fact that Wrexham are owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Parkinson insists there is not an “endless pot of money” to spend in the transfer window.
The north Wales-based club, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have earned back-to-back promotions after winning the National League title last season.
Reynolds and McElhenney took over the club in November 2020 and after losing in the play-offs in their first full season at the club, ended their 15-year absence from the EFL by edging out Notts County to clinch promotion with a record-breaking 111 points.
Nine victories in their last 15 league games, with just three defeats, saw them power into the top three this season and reach League One for the first time since 2005.
League Two leaders Stockport County, four points clear, also secured promotion on Saturday with the title still up for grabs.
The club’s co-owner and fellow Hollywood actor Rob McElhenney said on Instagram: “I don’t know if I have the words.
“The passion and perseverance that these players have is incredible to watch.”
Wrexham’s stylish victory at the Stok Racecourse, coupled with defeats for MK Dons and Barrow, meant the team secured a second successive promotion after last season’s National League title win.
