Together they announced the D’Angelo Russell Foundation is making a $100,000 investment to help renovate the park.
Russell grew up near Algonquin Park. He says he wants to give back to the community he is from.
“We found a way to get it done,” said Russell. “For me, this is just the start of something special, I know I have so many ideas, so many things I want to be a part of around the city.”
Although the completion date has not been set the plans include adding a new pool and renovating the playground and surrounding areas in the park.
