We examined the players at Ipswich Town who will soon be entering the last year of their contracts at Portman Road.
McKenna Kieran Town of Ipswich
Ipswich Town, having been promoted from the Championship, is getting ready for life in the Premier League.
The Tractor Boys were only promoted from League One the previous season, but they adapted well to the Championship and, following an outstanding campaign, earned back-to-back promotions.
Ipswich finished second behind winners Leicester City with an outstanding 96 points, and despite having a far smaller budget than many of their promotion rivals, they will make their first appearance in the top division in 22 years the following season.

Kieran McKenna, the 38-year-old manager of the Tractor Boys, put an end to rumors that he would leave the team this summer due to interest from Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Manchester United. He signed a new, long-term contract at Portman Road.
Although Ipswich has not yet announced their retained list, they may try to sign players who have just one year left on their present terms in addition to extending contracts for those whose contracts expire this summer.
We examined the Tractor Boys players who, as of right now, are expected to depart the team in the summer of 2025.
Luke Woolfenden
Untitled design (19)-1
defender Woolfenden came through the Ipswich academy, and in the 2019–20 season, he started to establish himself in the first team after stints on loan at Bromley and Swindon Town.
After playing a key role in the Tractor Boys’ promotion from League One the previous season, Woolfenden continued to be a fixture in the Championship this year, making 42 appearances across all competitions and contributing one goal and one assist.
Having joined the team at the age of eleven, the 25-year-old has developed into a vital member of the Ipswich defense under McKenna. He hopes to continue his amazing journey at Portman Road for many years to come; Ipswich does hold a one-year contract extension option for him.
Edmund George
George Edmundson for Derby County Edmundson has had a difficult few years since joining Ipswich from the Rangers in the summer of 2021.
Edmundson only made 15 appearances across all competitions this season after losing his spot in the second half of the previous campaign and failing to disrupt Woolfenden and Cameron Burgess’s partnership.
Although McKenna still views the 26-year-old as a valuable member of the team and trusts him to step up and contribute when needed, he may decide to leave this summer in pursuit of regular football playing time.
Creator of Collages Elkan Baggott 03-Nov-2023-03-07-PM-7493
Baggott, a defender, attended the Ipswich academy but has struggled to make a name for himself in the starting lineup.
Prior to this, Baggott had stints on loan at King’s Lynn Town, Gillingham, and Cheltenham Town. He also played 14 games for Bristol Rovers in League One during the second half of the previous season, recording one goal and one assist.
Although Baggott’s efforts during his brief stay at the Memorial Stadium were commended by Rovers manager Matt Taylor, another loan transfer this summer appears inevitable given the positions of Woolfenden, Burgess, Edmundson, and Axel Tuanzebe ahead of him at Portman Road.
Leif Davis
Leif Davis, defender for Ipswich Town In the summer of 2022, Davis transferred from Leeds United to Ipswich, and during the following two seasons, he has emerged as one of the league’s most dynamic players.
Last season, Davis helped the Tractor Boys achieve promotion from League One with three goals and fourteen assists in 46 games. This season, he had an even stronger campaign with two goals and twenty-one assists in 44 games.
Though Davis has been linked to both West Ham United and Newcastle United recently, Ipswich has a great chance of holding onto the 24-year-old after being promoted to the Premier League. Like Woolfenden, Davis has a one-year option in his contract that may extend it until 2026.
