Looking to take a 2-1 series lead over the Tigers in Detroit, the Cleveland Guardians will turn to Tanner Bibee for Wednesday’s matchup.
Bibee is coming off one of his less successful starts this season, allowing four runs in a game for the first time in nearly a month and just the second in nearly two.
Interestingly enough, Bibee’s last matchup with the Tigers saw him allow four runs on five hits in 4 innings of work in what was a 5-4 extra-innings win for the Guardians.
Detroit is slashing .275/.326/.325 as a group against Bibee in 40 at-bats.
Leading the way are Zach McKinstry with a 4-6 line and Andy Ibanez going 2-3. The only other Tigers hitter with more than one hit against Bibee is Riley Greene, who is 2-8.
Detroit will counter with Reese Olson, who has managed to find himself locked in on the mound as of late.
Olson has limited opponents to two runs or fewer in four straight starts.
This comes after a three-start stretch that saw him surrender 17 runs in 14.2 innings, all losses for Detroit.
This will be the second time this season that Cleveland has faced Olson, and the Guardians are looking for better results this time out.
Olson limited Cleveland to one earned run (two total) on one hit and two walks in 6 innings.
