Las Vegas Raiders star Davante Adams may have made his preference clear when it comes to the team’s options in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft.
In an Instagram story, Adams shared a photo of LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels with an accompanying quote from the Heisman Trophy winner saying “my résumé speaks for itself.”
ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported Thursday on SportsCenter the Raiders and Minnesota Vikings have been “most strongly” linked to a “big jump” up draft boards. Daniels could be Las Vegas’ top target if the team were to make an aggressive move.
The Raiders are sitting on the No. 13 pick, a point where it’s tough to see them landing any of the four top quarterbacks in the class: Daniels, USC’s Caleb Williams, North Carolina’s Drake Maye and Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy.
Even with McCarthy becoming a trendy choice for the Washington Commanders at No. 2, Daniels might be all but unattainable for Las Vegas.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Monday the Commanders and New England Patriots, who have the No. 3 selection, were both “apprehensive to give up those picks.” It’s hard to write that off purely as posturing by Washington and New England to improve trade leverage when the teams already have plenty of leverage and clear needs for a quarterback.
ESPN’s Matt Miller forecast a blockbuster trade in his newest mock draft. The Vikings dealt the Nos. 11 and 23 picks in addition to a 2025 first-rounder to the Patriots and then took Maye.
If the Raiders were to do something similar for Daniels, then that would be a steep price to pay for a quarterback who only truly excelled in one of his five years as a college player.

Adams’ view on Daniels is probably shared by others within the organization. Head coach Antonio Pierce originally helped recruit him to Arizona State when on the Sun Devils’ staff.
Whether the Raiders can actually land Daniels is another matter.
