Nagelsmann extends Germany contract
Julian Nagelsmann will remain in charge of Germany until the 2026 World Cup.
The 36-year-old had been linked with a return to Bayern Munich after this summer’s tournament. The Bundesliga side are looking for a new boss with Thomas Tuchel set to step down at the end of the season.
In September last year, Nagelsmann initially signed a contract up to and including Euro 2024.D avid Moyes has shrugged off speculation about his future and challenged West Ham to win their last five matches and qualify for Europe again.
Hammers boss Moyes will be out of contract at the end of the season and has put discussions about a new deal on hold.
The Scot, 60, continues to divide opinion among supporters despite West Ham’s unprecedented success under his stewardship.
Their third consecutive European campaign was ended by German champions Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League quarter-finals in midweek.
But they remain in the shake-up to qualify again next season, with or without Moyes.
“I have nothing to announce. I am happy. We are just getting on with the job,” said Moyes.
“We are playing games. We have five left to play. We will get on with it.
“I said there was no real big rush to do anything and I still feel that way.
“We need to win every game now. To give ourselves a chance of getting back into Europe, we need to.
“You can only win your next game so let’s see what happens. We will try and win our next game and see if we can hang in there.
“We had a pretty good start to the year. We have kept it going and we have probably been sixth, seventh, eighth all year. I am hoping we can keep ourselves in that position.”
The Hammers head to Crystal Palace on Sunday and can welcome back Lucas Paqueta and Emerson Palmieri from suspension.
Bruno Guimaraes has given the strongest indication yet that he intends to remain at Newcastle next season as the Brazil midfielder is buying a new house in the North East, according to The Telegraph.
Guimaraes has been heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, as well as Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City in the last few months.
He has also been pictured on trips to the French capital, where he visited Disneyland during a recent break, which fuelled speculation he is planning to leave in the summer.
The 26-year-old has a release clause of around £100m in his contract but sources have indicated there has not been any firm interest shown at that price, and there is a growing optimism he will not depart at the end of the season.
Newcastle will reject any bids below the release clause – and will do the same if anyone comes in for star striker Alexander Isak in the summer, too.
