All I want is to go back to a team that isn’t afraid to let guys compete for a roster spot.
These last 3 years been nothing short of entitlement,” Willie Snead IV posted on X. “Competition breedz Champions.”
Snead was first signed by the 49ers in 2022.
He dropped on and off the active roster throughout the season before the Niners re-signed him to a one-year deal last May.
In two seasons with San Francisco, Snead played in four games, collecting just two receptions for 7 yards.
His contract expired at the end of the season, and he’s currently a free agent.
When some fans pushed back on Snead’s take, he doubled down, writing in one post that it’s “Hard to Compete with Politics.
That’s why guys give up in this profession.”
Snead was signed by Cleveland in 2014 as an undrafted free agent out of Ball State.
He’s played for the Ravens, Raiders and Panthers, recording 16 touchdowns in that time — but every touchdown was scored before 2021.
When someone on X posted a screenshot of his stats, Snead was quick to recontextualize the numbers.
“Thank you for proving my point,” Snead replied.
“My last year of actually playing ‘consistent’ ball was 2020.
My numbers were better than half the FA receivers this year & I was in a ‘run heavy’ offense.
Every year after that, I probably had a total of 30 snaps in 3 years. That’s crazy.”
