Shortstop Gunnar Henderson, catcher Adley Rutschman, third baseman Jordan Westburg and right-hander Corbin Burnes will be participating in the All-Star Game on Tuesday.
Henderson will also compete in the Home Run Derby on Monday.
It’s Henderson and Westburg’s first career All-Star Game appearance, Rutschman’s second and Burnes’ fourth — but first on the American League team after the Orioles acquired him from the Milwaukee Brewers this winter.
Several more Orioles had cases to be on the squad and still can be named replacements if players already on the team are unable to play or attend.
Here’s everything Baltimore fans need to know about next week’s events.
Among the in-house choices for replacements offered by Kubato were Chayce McDermott, Tucker Davidson and Trey McGough.
McDermott has been developed as a starter, but his 13.1 K/9 in Triple-A Norfolk makes him hard to resist at least giving a chance at 25 years old.
His future may be brightest as a starter, but taking the risk of putting him in the pen might be worth it.
As a righty, though, he wouldn’t fill the void in lefty-lefty match-ups.
McGough is another older prospect, but he just reached the Triple-A level for the second time at 26 years old and first time since 2022.
In 12 games in Norfolk, he has a 2.57 ERA with a 1.179 WHIP and 8.7 K/9.
The southpaw does offer some upside as a lefty specialist at least.
