Former Arkansas fullback, Peyton Hillis, achieved greatness at Arkansas.
Playing in Arkansas at Conway High School, Hillis earned all-American honors.
All-American, Hillis was rated by Max Emfinger as the best fullback in the nation.
.He was also named the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Offensive Player of the Year his senior year.
He received Fox Sports Net “All-South” first-team honors, and All-Conference and All-State honors as a junior and senior.
Hillis then continued his success in college.
Peyton Hillis chose Arkansas over several other offers from schools including Oklahoma, Nebraska, Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, and LSU.
As a freshman Hillis had 240 yards rushing, 97 yards receiving, and scored eight touchdowns.
These stats ranked him fourth in the SEC in total touchdowns and he tied Georgia’s Thomas Brown for most touchdowns scored by a SEC freshman that year.
Hillis would only be better from here.
His sophomore year Hillis accounted for 947 all-purpose yards (including more than 200 in kick-off and punt returns) and seven touchdowns while also serving as a blocker for up-and-coming star running backs Darren McFadden and Felix Jones.
In his junior season, Hillis only appeared in 10 games due to injury.
He returned late to the season helping Arkansas win the 2006 SEC Western Division Championship.
This year’s team went 10-4 ranking as high as 5th in the nation.
They lost to Wisconsin in the 2007 Capital One Bowl.
