Roberto De Zerbi is a contender for the Bayern Munich job, but a German football expert says that the ‘hothead’ is not a good fit.
Constantin Eckner was a guest on White & Jordan on Tuesday to discuss Bayern’s interest in the Brighton boss ahead of a potential move at the end of the season.

Bayern are searching for a new manager with Thomas Tuchel standing down, while Xabi Alonso has decided to commit his future to Bayer Levekusen.
The German giants are now looking elsewhere, with Eckner confirming that De Zerbi is on their list of potential targets to lead a team including Harry Kane.
Asked if the Italian is the favourite, Eckner told talkSPORT: “He’s among three candidates and has emerged as someone who might become the next Bayern manager, who knows?

“Bayern were so focused on Xabi Alonso a little while ago, but once they learned that he would stay at Bayer Leverkusen they pivoted away and looked at alternatives.

“One of the alternatives on a pretty short shortlist is Roberto De Zerbi. The other two names discussed internally are Ralf Rangnick, formerly of Manchester United, who is currently managing the Austria national team and [Germany boss] Julian Nagelsmann, who was sacked by Bayern last year.
“He’ll be out of contract after the Euros and there had been discussions that he might be asked to come back because his sacking was premature and I think that’s what Bayern are realising.”
Eckner continued: “Bayern has already put his feelers out to find out if De Zerbi would be available and to find out about the buyout clause in De Zerbi’s contract and to see if it can be triggered.”

Asked if he thinks De Zerbi would be a good fit, Eckner warned the Allianz Arena outfit against his appointment.

The journalist remarked: “No it wouldn’t be. Not because of his tactical acumen but because of his man-management – because he is a bit of a hothead.
“He can instigate people, he can provoke people and get on bad terms with people a couple of times in recent times.

“Think about De Zerbi and then all of the trouble that has been going on at Bayern internally – I don’t know if that would be the best fit, to be honest.
“I could see De Zerbi throwing his hands up after three months and thinking ‘I’m done here.’”
Responding to the link, Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony stated: “It does (surprise me). He’s had more clubs than Tiger Woods.
“I think he needs to calm down. They’ve played some lovely football and done OK, but Tony Bloom won’t lose a moment of sleep over that.

“He loses top players, replaces them and makes millions, so I could imagine him sitting with this fella and saying, ‘Get back in your box, you’ve got a long-term contract so what do we need to speak about?’
“Calm down and stop drinking your own Kool-Aid until you’ve actually done something.
“You’re in the top ten at the moment and playing some decent football, but don’t get ahead of yourself and that’s the reality.

“While he’s done well in the Premier League in the last couple of years he has been a bit of a nomad – he has been everywhere but never had great success.
“Maybe he is perfect for the Bayern job – he’d go in, they’d back him and he might win trophies for the first time in his career.”
