QB dedication explains why Michigan football was preferred over Ohio State.
Brady Hart committed to Michigan football on Tuesday, and the quarterback gave an explanation of his decision to play for the Wolverines rather than the Buckeyes.
Tuesday was a significant commitment for Michigan football as four-star quarterback Brady Hart made his commitment known to the Wolverines.
Numerous other universities were also interested in Hart, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound quarterback, but Ohio State made an offer on Monday.
For supporters of Michigan football, that was concerning. Although it was evident that Ohio State was interested in Hart, glancing back at the photo he used to share the offer on social media shows that he was a devoted Wolverine.
Hart gave one explanation for this, saying that Michigan is unique among places. Hart, who is ranked No. 7 among quarterbacks and No. 92 overall in the 2026 class, told EJ Holland of The Wolverine that Ohio State and Michigan have very different cultures.
“I discovered that the culture that Michigan has isn’t prevalent elsewhere after leaving Ohio State. Nothing compares to Michigan,” Hart remarked.
The belief was that until the Irish selected Noah Grubbs, the Hart was a Notre Dame lean. After that, a few recruiting specialists predicted Hart to Clemson. But last weekend’s multi-day visit to Michigan football shifted the balance in the Wolverines’ favor.
Hart, who has been compared to J.J. McCarthy, had the Wolverines as the favorite by Monday. On Tuesday, Michigan football received its second commitment from a top-100 player in as many weeks.
U-M still has to get Hart and the other recent commitments to signing day, but the recruiting bump we all expected under Sherrone Moore has arrived and it’s a beautiful thing.
