The Orlando Pirates have signed their first big player.
After Monare’s departure, the Orlando Pirates have made their first significant acquisition in an effort to strengthen their center midfield.
Thalente Mbatha, a midfield stalwart, is the first player the Orlando Pirates have signed for the upcoming campaign.
Mbatha was on loan from SuperSport United for the previous season, and at the conclusion of that agreement, Pirates had the option to purchase him.
And once the midfielder showed the technical staff that he possesses the necessary skills to play for them, Pirates decided to pursue that option.
After a great tenure with Pirates, Mbatha was always expected to stay permanently; both parties would just need to agree to that.
The 24-year-old is reportedly a Pirate, however specifics of his contract are yet unknown, according to UnplayableZA.
Mbatha’s signing is the first of many that the Pirates may anticipate for the upcoming season, particularly in light of the departure of six players.
He is viewed as the team’s obvious replacement for Thabang Monare, whose contract was not extended before it expired.
After parting ways with Siyabonga Mpontshane and Richard Ofori, Pirates are anticipated to bring in at least one goalie.
With Kermit Erasmus and Souaibou Marou free, the Buccaneers are also anticipated to bolster their striking unit.
Kegan Johannes from SuperSport United is a potential addition to the Pirates lineup as a versatile defender.
