Next season, Wrexham will encounter teams like Birmingham City and face a significant step up in League One.
A league matchup between Birmingham City and Wrexham is extremely uncommon.
There have only been nine meetings between the two teams in the history of the game, and the most recent league encounter occurred way, way back in 1995.
Since then, there have only been two encounters: a League Cup match in 2006 and an FA Cup contest in 1997.
Following Wrexham’s amazing ascent from the National League, the two teams will now play for the first time in almost 20 years.
Following their relegation, Birmingham’s Blues are gearing up for life in League One and are currently taking steps to attempt to get back into the Championship.

Phil Parkinson arrived at the STōK Cae Ras having already received many promotions, so he understands the EFL inside and out.
However, a lot of teams are currently searching for the next exceptional young manager, motivated by Kieran McKenna’s achievements at Ipswich Town.
Following their past decisions to go with experience under Tony Mowbray and Gary Rowett, Birmingham has now chosen that path.
Chris Davies has now been named the Blues’ new manager, giving him his first managing position.
Before moving to Tottenham Hotspur last summer, Davies was Brendan Rodgers’ assistant at Celtic and Leicester City.
Although Davies assisted Ange Postecoglou throughout the previous season, he has now made the decision to take the helm at Birmingham as a manager.
This will now set up an intriguing matchup between Parkinson’s experience and Davies’s potential when Wrexham plays Birmingham the following term.
However, the two may already be facing off in a fight this summer as Birmingham and Wrexham square off over a significant deal.

Wrexham will battle Marc Leonard.
According to Alan Nixon of The Sun, Birmingham has officially begun negotiations to recruit Marc Leonard, a midfielder for Brighton & Hove Albion.
According to reports from May, Wrexham is eager to sign Leonard for a move of £320,000.
George Evans, Andy Cannon, and Elliot Lee make up a strong midfield trio for Wrexham presently, but it appears they want to add Leonard as a top prospect for the future.
Nixon said that Birmingham might try to persuade him to make the move by offering a “lucrative deal” as Birmingham is currently making their move.
Although Wrexham hasn’t had to compete with Birmingham for a move in a while, Leonard is currently at the center of a genuine tug-of-war.
As Davies gets used to his new role in Birmingham, landing Leonard might be his first assignment, but Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will be pressuring him to transfer to Wrexham.

At Wrexham, Phil Parkinson can now recruit a “exceptional” free agent to compete with Andy Cannon.

This summer, Phil Parkinson may sign a “exceptional” free agent to compete with Andy Cannon for the Wrexham starting spot.
Priorities at Wrexham are clear for Phil Parkinson ahead of the transfer window beginning on June 14.
He has to acquire a top goalkeeper, so he can either seek elsewhere or sign Arthur Okonkwo on a permanent basis.
The 56-year-old must recruit a center defender because they have already been unsuccessful in signing Jason Kerr of Wigan Athletic after he decided to sign a new contract with the Latics.
Along with goal machine Paul Mullin, Parkinson also needs firepower up front because League Two performances from Ollie Palmer and Steven Fletcher were insufficiently impressive.
In the meanwhile, a central midfielder is needed to provide competition for Elliot Lee, Andy Cannon, and George Evans, and a left-back is needed to replace Jacob Mendy in the starting lineup.
Brighton midfielder Marc Leonard is apparently being targeted by Wrexham, but a number of Championship and League One teams are also in the running to recruit him.
According to reports, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds would have to sign Leonard against their transfer history, or they might have to consider signing a free agent.
