Adam Idah’s move from Norwich City was confirmed last night and earlier this week, Hyeokkyu Kwon sealed a loan move to Hibs as the South Korean looks for first-team
And now, just two days into his Easter Road spell, Hibs boss David Gray has explained how the Celtic midfielder has already left him feeling ‘really impressed’.
Gray loving ‘excellent’ Kwon
Hyeokkyu Kwon has found it difficult to get some regular game time since his Celtic move last summer but it seems that he is set to become a big part of the Hibs manager’s plans this season.
Gray said [Daily Record print edition page 45], “We’ve seen straightaway in the last couple of days on the grass that he’s got really good quality, technical ability, and he’s physical as well.
“He’s a good athlete, covers the ground well, and I was really impressed by him when he went on loan to St Mirren.
“Obviously Kwon can’t play at the weekend but what he does is make us better as a team and as a group, and his character is what we’re looking for.
“We were able to do our homework on that, we saw him playing in the league last season and he was excellent against us, so that’s all part of it. Ideally, we’d like our own players, but you don’t always have the option for that.
“With Kwon, there Kwon needs to kick on for the sake of his Celtic career
Kwon’s spell at Hibs will be the South Korean’s second loan spell away from Celtic since his 2023 summer move.
After making nine appearances for St Mirren last season, the Celtic midfielder impressed Stephen Robinson so much that he wanted him back for another loan spell.
However, Kwon is now at Easter Road and he needs to have a good season with the capital club. With game time limited at Celtic, this is the perfect opportunity for the South Korean to show Brendan Rodgers what he can offer the Hoops boss whilst in Hibs colours.
I genuinely hope Kwon is a success because I believe that there is a player in there. Whether that player is good enough to make it at Celtic is now up to the 23-year-old to prove.
