The Louisville head coach search has been stuffed to the gills with rumors of who will fill Kenny Payne’s shoes (which shouldn’t be a hard feat to accomplish).
As the weeks have stretched on, fans have grown restless. However, following Florida Atlantic’s loss to Northwestern in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, all eyes turned towards Dusty May.
May has led the FAU Owls to two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and in 2023, the Owls shocked the world on their way to the Final Four.
Next up for May? Rumors have it, he’s headed to Louisville.

Multiple sources are claiming Dusty May to Louisville is happening within the next 48 hours, but there is still not a lot of concrete evidence as of yet.
Rumors fly during search szn, but all the people can really do is wait till it’s official… otherwise it’s speculation.

Louisville needs fixing. A lot of it.
Payne led the Cardinals to an embarrassing 12-52 over his two-year stint with the team. Before Payne, Mike Pegues was the interim head coach and led Louisville to a 7-11 overall record.
The Cardinals have had a rapid and dramatic fall from grace since Rick Pitino’s era with the squad but May could be just what they need.
May has coached the FAU Owls for five years. At the end of the 2022-23 season, FAU had a 35-4 overall record, finished first in Conference USA, and made it to the Final Four. This season, the Owls ended their season with a 25-9 overall record.
As a head coach, May has gone 126-69 overall. With his 64.6 percent win rate, he may be able to turn the Louisville basketball program around and take it back to its place as a perennial program.
