With his extensive knowledge of the league, former NFL player and scout Bucky Brooks offers astute observations in his notebook. He highlights 11 offensive players that are expected to have a big impact in 2024 in this installment.
It’s summer break in the NFL, with training camp a month away and mandatory minicamp in the rearview mirror. This is a period of reflection on rosters and forecasting potential outcomes for the next football season, the quiet before the storm. In light of that, my goal is to find players who have what it takes to become major players come fall.
I did the same procedure over the offseason last year, correctly projecting players like Derek Stingley Jr., Tyler Smith, Derrick Brown, and George Pickens to have breakout seasons. Naturally, not all of the picks turned out to be wise (see Kenny Pickett, Kadarius Toney, and Nakobe Dean), but that won’t stop me from making more predictions about stars of the future.
Although the players on this list have not yet been named to the All-Pro or Pro Bowl, I think their performance in the upcoming season will make them worthy of consideration.
Here is my 2024 All-Breakout Team’s offensive lineup without further ado. (Return Friday for the defensive summary.)
Many people jumped off of Young’s bandwagon after his poor rookie season, but I think Dave Canales, the new head coach, can help the No. 1 overall choice from last year recover. After helping Baker Mayfield revive his career in Tampa, the QB guru may now work his magic in another NFC South city, Charlotte, to help Young restore his confidence. With improved weapons at his disposal and a redesigned scheme that puts more quarterback-friendly concepts at the center, the gifted gunslinger may make a comeback to his former status as the Heisman Trophy winner at Alabama and the top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
