This season, Indiana Fever players have come under fire for failing to shield freshman Caitlin Clark. There has been some rough play against the top pick in the most recent WNBA Draft; some of it has followed the rules, and some hasn’t.
Kelsey Mitchell addressed the criticism on Wednesday. According to her, it is the team’s responsibility to ensure Caitlin Clark’s safety.

After playing three games in four days last weekend, Indiana is currently on a four-day break. That break was initiated by a number of players who aren’t Caitlin Clark, who took a boat out on the lake to celebrate Grace Berger’s birthday.
But now that they’re back on the court, the team is getting ready to play the Mystics on Friday.
Following the end of Wednesday’s practice, players were available for interviews with the media. The query that many have been waiting for an answer to was posed to Kelsey Mitchell.
Why aren’t Caitlin Clark’s Fever teammates taking greater precautions?
Her reply was as follows:
“At the end of the day, she is a 22-year-old child in addition to being human. Over time, she will go through a few specific experiences. Obviously, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that she is protected in terms of her bodily and mental well-being. We want her to always feel comfortable here.
The Fever has come under fire after what happened with Chennedy Carter.
Clark’s Indiana colleagues were hesitant to assist her in getting back up after the Chicago Sky opponent shoved her to the ground, and none of them seemed to be offended by Carter’s needless theatrics.
Rather, the game continued as if nothing had occurred!
In sharp contrast to the other side, Angel Reese and other Sky players cheered their teammate’s cheap shot.
It is Kelsey Mitchell’s responsibility to ensure Caitlin Clark’s safety. Should another altercation arise, we’ll see if those ideas are reflected in the acts.
