Dave Roberts of the Dodgers dismisses Kiké Hernandez’s gaffe during an on-air interview.
While being mic’d up on Friday, the third baseman committed a mistake, but the manager acknowledges that “it’s part of sports now.”

NEW YORK: Kiké Hernandez doesn’t mind being seen.
The Dodgers infielder was miked up for an ESPN broadcast early in the season. Viewers were able to hear the pitch that the Dodgers pitcher was going to throw thanks to the microphone picking up the Pitch.com device he had in his ear.
Hernandez was once more connected to the audio system for Friday night’s Dodgers vs. Yankees game on Apple TV. This time, while chatting with commentators Wayne Randazzo and Dontrelle Willis, he made a mistake in the second inning. Gleyber Torres grounded a ball that Hernandez booted, but it did not result in a run.
Dave Roberts, the manager of the Dodgers, stated after the game that he was unaware Hernandez was being mic’ed up when the error occurred. It was evident
He agreed that he cannot alter the in-game, on-field interviews, but he is not a fan of them.
“I get it. Now it’s a part of sports,” Roberts remarked. Thus, regrettably, Kiké committed a mistake. He has committed such mistakes in the past. It pertains to sports. I choose my conflicts carefully.
Hernandez acknowledged during Friday’s game that conducting the interview may have contributed “a little bit” to his gaffe. If you beg him to stop, though, he won’t.

“No, since we receive payment,” he said to the journalist. “Money is something I like.”
For their participation in the microphone-assisted interviews, players receive $10,000.
Roberts said he hadn’t discussed the matter with Hernandez.
He enjoys the spotlight, I know that. He enjoys using social media, Roberts remarked. He continues to practice and play hard. He still enjoys developing his brand, though. I understand now. That’s alright with me. He performs to the hilt.

Roberts stated that he had a conversation with Clayton Kershaw, and the seasoned left-hander emerged from his two-inning practice on Friday with no issues. Next week, Kershaw is scheduled to play a third inning of a simulated game. He would then begin an assignment for rehab.
Roberts stated that the Dodgers have not yet determined if Bobby Miller will make another rehab start following his more than four innings pitched for Triple-A Oklahoma.

Roberts stated that the Dodgers have not yet determined if Bobby Miller, who pitched four and a half innings for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, will make another rehab start. Miller had made three starts at rehab.
Between off days, the Dodgers will play 13 straight games beginning Tuesday against the Texas Rangers. During that time, two starters would take two “regular” rest days if a five-man rotation was used. “I fail to see” that occurring, Roberts remarked.
Roberts stated, “So there might be a drop-in situation, something like that.”
SNUBBED SUITORS During Friday night’s victory at Yankee Stadium, a portion of the sold-out crowd jeered Yoshinobu Yamamoto, albeit not as loudly as they did when Shohei Ohtani visited Toronto and San Francisco. Before Yamamoto decided to sign with the Dodgers, the Yankees were among the teams that coveted him this offseason and appeared to have a strong chance of doing so.
Pitching well against the Yankees doesn’t provide any added incentive, according to Yamamoto.
