A health scare that occurred on Friday was recently disclosed on social media by one of the greatest players in Lions history.
In a statement, Barry Sanders detailed a cardiac-related episode that happened over the weekend of Father’s Day, but he also stated that he is making progress toward recovery.
“Over Father’s Day weekend I experienced a health scare related to my heart,” he stated. “It was unexpected and served as a reminder of the importance of staying vigilant about our physical well-being, even when we are feeling fine.”
The 55-year-old Sanders recently appeared in public at the grand opening concert of Michigan Central Station and earlier at the NFL Draft in Detroit.
He continues by expressing gratitude to the medical staff and is determined to put his health first.
“To all of my backers,
My heart gave me a health scare over the weekend of Father’s Day. It was unanticipated and served as a reminder of how crucial it is to continue to be watchful of our physical health, even when we are feeling good.
“I am appreciative of the wonderful physicians, nurses, and other medical staff who gave me the necessary treatment. We appreciate your prayers and support during this time, on behalf of my family and myself.
“I am using this chance to put my health and well-being first, as advised by my doctors. I value your comprehension and on-going assistance.”
