He is now enjoying success after being selected by the Detroit Lions in the first round. Due to his dual threat capabilities, Milroe may be able to launch a significant Heisman campaign come autumn. In 2023, he amassed 2,834 passing yards and 35 touchdowns, but more is sure to come.
Fans of Nagy and Alabama are eager to see what Milroe achieves for Crimson Tide football under this coaching staff after witnessing what Kalen DeBoer accomplished for Michael Penix Jr.

In 16 out of 17 years, Nick Saban was one of the best recruiters for the University of Alabama football program.
His 2008 first-class signing class served as the impetus for the creation of nine Southeastern Conference titles, six national titles, four Heisman Trophy winners, and numerous other honors. When it came to signing players and convincing them to commit to the Crimson Tide both before and after the name, image, and likeness (NIL) period, Saban was unique.
Even with Saban’s dominance, has Kalen DeBoer outperformed him in his first year of recruiting? When he was hired from Washington, the story went that he was unable to hire people in the south and southeast of the country.
By striking the iron hot, DeBoer and his team have stunned everyone by securing eighteen verbal commitments.
The 49-year-old has attracted players from neighboring regions as well as those from within the state. With thirty players in his first major class, Saban mostly selected in-state and southeast talent. He signed Corey Smith, a punter from West Virginia, and Mark Ingram, a running back from Michigan, who went on to win the program’s first-ever Heisman Trophy.
In his first recruiting cycle, coach DeBoer is traveling around the United States.

Alabama accounts for six of DeBoer’s eighteen pledges.
Six of his eleven are from Alabama, three are from Georgia, one is from Mississippi, and one is from Texas. These eleven are from the south to southeast region.
DeBoer has withdrawn four pledges from the state of California, one each from Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. These are all from prestigious high school programs, such as Mater Dei in Santa Ana, California. In his first headline class, Saban failed to locate his quarterback of the future; but, DeBoer has found his in Duncanville, Texas, High School’s Keelon Russell.
The first major class under Saban ended up ranked third in the country.
DeBoer’s is currently ranked No. 2, and when the early signing period opens in December, it may end up at No. 1.
Saban restored the program’s national status, but it’s amazing what DeBoer is doing in recruiting before taking over as head coach for a regular season game. Guys are adoring his energy, and he has the athletes thinking that Alabama is still Alabama even without Nick Saban as head coach.
Players are committing on the spot because they think they can have an impact in Tuscaloosa under DeBoer.
He is getting off to a great start, and I’m looking forward to seeing how this class plays out.
Coach Saban will always be valued by the public, but DeBoer is winning right now.
