Vladimir Guerrero Jr., an All-Star first baseman for the Toronto Blue Jays, stated in 2022 that he would never be able to play for the New York Yankees. However, in 2024, Guerrero seemed to have had a change of heart.

With a 35-43 record, the Blue Jays are currently near the bottom of the AL East after a difficult first half of the 2024 MLB season. With Guerrero being the most valuable asset they might deal, many observers predict that they will be sellers ahead of the trade deadline.
However, the Yankees are having a successful resurgence and lead the division with a 52-28 record right now. But first baseman Anthony Rizzo was recently out for at least four weeks, and they are reportedly considering Guerrero as one of their trade targets at first base.
In a recent conversation with Virus Deportivo, Guerrero was asked about the potential of getting dealt to the Yankees, and he didn’t respond as one may have imagined.
Everybody says things sometimes. Guerrero clarified, “I’m not trying to retract anything I said against the Yankees. But this is an enterprise. This is a business, I explained to my family and dad [Vladimir Guerrero Sr.] when I sat down to talk. And even though I promised to never bring up the subject again, several individuals have questioned me about it.
Guerrero stated that while he is focused on the Blue Jays, he would be “happy to help any team” that selects him.
The Blue Jays have made it clear that they will not be trading Guerrero. Toronto has ownership over the MLB home run leader for 2021 through the next season, but serious extension talks between the two parties have not yet taken place.
In 2024, Guerrero had a batting average of.286 with 35 RBIs and 10 home runs.
