Superstar guard Kyrie Irving tried to forge his own path after forcing his way out of the Cleveland Cavaliers because he didn’t want to play in LeBron James’ shadow. He eventually found himself in a perfect setting with some gifted young players on the Boston Celtics.
Unfortunately for the Celtics, Irving’s time in Boston ended up being more of the same. Unsatisfied with his role for the legendary team, he left in NBA free agency to play with fellow superstar Kevin Durant with the Brooklyn Nets.
Thought to be a game-changer for Brooklyn, the superstar duo of Irving and Durant helped create a new powerhouse in the Eastern Conference. However, that spell also proved to be disastrous, as the former NBA champion started to become more of an issue off the court.
In the end, Irving’s career appeared to be on the decline when he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks prior to the NBA trade deadline the previous season. Unfortunately, the team missed the playoffs.
He re-signed with Dallas last summer, and it appears that this move was a wise one as evidenced by his subsequent presence in the NBA Finals and glowing comments from former NBA star Evan Turner, via ClutchPoints.
Turner remarked, “He’s been coming through like it’s 2014–15.” He’s acting as though he can see Steph Curry in front of him. “He approaches some games like Kobe [Bryant],” they said.

With Irving and Luka Doncic establishing probably the best offensive backcourt the NBA has ever seen, the two superstars have proven to be the perfect combination in Dallas.
In the Western Conference Finals, Doncic and Irving exchanged huge shots after big shots. They will want to continue that in the Finals against the dangerous Celtics, who are known for their defense on the court.
