Frank Anselem-Ibe is still eligible for one more year.
The formal announcement of Frank Anselem-Ibe’s roster inclusion from Georgia has been made by Louisville. With one year left of eligibility, the 6-foot-10, 220-pound big man made his commitment to the Cardinals on May 21.
“Frank has been efficient at the high-major level over the past four years,” stated Kelsey. He’s a strong, athletic center who can lead off the floor as well as perform on it. Frank provides a mature and experienced presence that others may rely on during the season. He is a seasoned rim protector in addition to being a superb learner, leader, and human being.”
The Lagos, Nigeria native has played for the Bulldogs in Athens, Georgia, for the past two seasons, as stated in the official UofL statement. He participated in 29 games in 2023–24, averaging 9.1 minutes per game while dishing up 2.6 points and 2.1 rebounds. Anselem-Ibe played in 31 games in 2022–2023 for an average of 14.6 minutes per game. He averaged 2.9 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game.
After committing to Louisville, Anselem-Ibe spoke with 247Sports and cited Kelsey’s enthusiasm as a major factor in his choice to become a Cardinal.
“He’s a very wired guy, he’s intense but that’s the price you have to pay if you want to win,” Kelsey’s father stated. “To play for a guy like him, you have to know what you’re doing; you can’t just lallygag. You have to be locked in and prepared. He has triumphed everywhere he has gone, and our current goal at Louisville is to accomplish the same.”
In 2022–23, Anselem-Ibe made six starts and participated in thirty games in his debut season with the Bulldogs. In 14.6 minutes a game, he averaged 2.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and a team-high 0.9 blocks.
During the 2021–22 season, Anselem made 32 appearances for Syracuse, including six starts. In 14.2 minutes a game, he averaged 2.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 62.5 percent from the field.
