Ohio State’s Allison Smith, Kami Kortokrax, Tegan Cortelletti and Kirsten Eppele have all earned spots on the 2024 Academic All-District softball teams for 2024, the College Sports Communicators announced today.
The 2024 Academic All-District softball teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
With their selection, the four advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America voting, with Division I winners to be announced later in June. To be eligible for all-district honors, nominees must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have a 3.50 or better cumulative grade-point average and compete in 90 percent or more of the institution’s games/contests.
Smith graduated earlier in May with her degree in biomedical engineering and will conOhiotinue work towards a master’s degree this fall. She was also an All-Big Ten and All-Region selection after leading the team in wins (18), strikeouts (137), earned run average (2.53) and innings pitched (160.1).
Kortokrax, a communications major, was a first team All-Big Ten honoree following a season in which she hit .318 with 12 home runs, 12 doubles and 42 RBI.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State won’t head to Oregon for another four months, but the Buckeyes are already an underdog.
Per early odds released on DraftKings on Tuesday, Ohio State is a one-point underdog for the game against Oregon on Oct. 12. The Buckeyes are only listed as underdogs in one game this season.
Oregon, expected to be one of the top teams in the nation in 2024, will play its biggest game as a new member of the Big Ten against Ohio State at Autzen Stadium that day. The Ducks play Idaho, Boise State, Oregon State, UCLA and Michigan State before welcoming the Buckeyes. Barring a slip-up, they’ll be 5-0 entering that game.
