Just now:Former Tennessee Vols manager has been named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team:
There is a new No. 1 in college baseball.
Despite a 2-2 week that included last Tuesday night’s home loss to Lipscomb, the Tennessee Volunteers moved up two spots and now sit atop the D1 Baseball rankings. The Vols won two of three games this past weekend at Florida, including Saturday night’s 16-3 run-rule triumph, while Texas A&M went 1-2 against LSU and Arkansas went 1-2 against Kentucky.
No. 1 this season, with the Vols having compiled a 39-9 record that includes a 17-7 mark in Southeastern Conference play. Tennessee had never been No. 1 until the 2022 season, when the Vols went 57-9 and stormed through the SEC with a 25-5 record.
Tennessee was the top overall seed in the NCAA tournament two years ago but was upset by Notre Dame in the Super Regional. No NCAA tourney top seed has prevailed at the College World Series since the 1999 Miami Hurricanes.
