The West Virginia University golf team is tied for eighth place after 36 holes of competition at the Big 12 Golf Championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.
The Mountaineers recorded rounds of 297-291 on the par-72 course.
WVU is tied with Kansas State and Kansas at +12 in the 14-team championship.
The group is one shot behind Texas Tech for seventh place. BYU is the only team under par in the field at 1-under-par.
Max Green led the Mountaineers with rounds of 74-72 (+2) and is tied for 20th place.
Kaleb Wilson is tied for 35th place with rounds of 74-74 (+4). Jackson Davenport (80-71) and Todd Duncan (77-74) are tied for 48th place at 7-over-par.
Pierce Grieve is one shot behind Davenport and Duncan after posting rounds of 72-80. Only eight golfers in the field are under par.
The third round will begin Tuesday morning with golfers playing 18 holes. The fourth and final round will take place on Wednesday morning.
Gold-Blue Spring Football Game Information
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University is hosting its annual Gold-Blue Spring Football Game presented by Encova Insurance, on Saturday, April 27, at Noon, at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium.
Admission for the game is free with the gates opening at 11 a.m., and all fans are required to claim a ticket by CLICKING HERE. All tickets will be issued via mobile delivery and fans are encouraged to claim and download their tickets to their mobile wallet, prior to arriving at the stadium on game day. In lieu of the cost of admission, fans are encouraged to make a donation to WVU Medicine Children’s at the time of checkout when claiming their ticket. Students can enter at any gate by showing their student IDs.
Headlining the Gold-Blue Spring Game will be an Almost Heaven Village Kickoff Concert featuring Morgantown native Huey Mack. Admission is free to the public. The concert will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the East Side of Milan Puskar Stadium between the Light Blue and Teal parking lots.
Huey Mack, born Joseph Dalton Michael in Morgantown, West Virginia, started getting into music and production at age 14. He began toying with the idea of music as a half-hearted hobby for most of his time in high school. By age 17, he started releasing a series of free digital mixtapes.
Fans are invited to bring their own food and beverages to the concert, but there also will be food trucks onsite. Concession stands inside the stadium will open at 11 a.m.
Along with the kickoff concert, the Almost Heaven Village fan experience area will offer fans the opportunity to pick up an exclusive schedule poster, enjoy food trucks, inflatables, a DJ, yard games, photo opportunities, balloon artistry and face painting, along with appearances from the WVU Spirit Squads.
WVU’s Clear Bag Policy remains in effect, and the Athletics Department invites and encourages fans to visit for more information, to view pictures of permissible and non-permissible items and to obtain answers to frequently asked questions about the clear bag policy.
Fans are asked to reduce what they bring to the stadium to minimize contact points and bag searches.
For the Gold-Blue Spring Game, all fans, including WVU students, should enter the stadium through the North, West, Southeast and Southwest Gates. There will be no stadium re-entry passes issued for the game.
Fans are reminded that umbrellas are not permitted inside the stadium.
There will be ADA seating available on the West and East sides based on demand.
There will be multiple stands opened on the West Side (stand numbers 6, 7, 10, 11) and East (stand numbers 20, 23, 24), sides of the stadium, but there will not be concession areas open in the South end. Beer sales will conclude at the end of halftime.
All parking for cars is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The following hospital parking lots on the East side will open at 8 a.m. on Saturday and are available for public parking: F1, F2, F3, F4 and E.
The center most parking lots and the western most parking lots of the large Blue hospital parking lot (Hospital parking lots C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7, C8, C9, C10 and D) will be reserved for hospital patients, visitors and staff. Towing will be enforced.
There also will be parking available at the Law School based on availability.
The PRT is operating on its normal Saturday schedule (9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.), for the price of 50 cents each way. It is free for all students and WVU staff with a valid WVU ID.
The Gold-Blue Game, slated to begin at approximately 12:07 p.m., will conclude WVU’s spring football drills.
This year’s game will be a four-quarter Gold vs. Blue contest, along with specialty drills and competitions.
The veteran radio announcing crew of Tony Caridi (play-by-play), Dwight Wallace (analysis) and Jed Drenning (sideline) will bring the sights and sounds of the game to the listening audience on the Mountaineer Sports Network presented by Learfield.
The Gold-Blue Spring Football Game will be televised on the Big 12 Now on ESPN+ platform.
Additional television coverage will start with a special Mountaineer GameDay Gold-Blue pregame show starting at 11 a.m. on the all of the local Nexstar affiliates, as well as on AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh, followed by the game broadcast at Noon, on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
Following the conclusion of the game, all fans in attendance will be welcomed onto Mountaineer Field for 30 minutes for photos and other activities.
