Pat Kelsey has gone right to work as head coach of Louisville. Just five days after being officially announced as the new head man, Kelsey already has a transfer portal commitment.
And it’s a big one at that in James Madison transfer Terrence Edwards Jr. Jeff Goodman of the Field of 68 reported the news.
Edwards — the 6-foot-6, 190-pound guard from Atlanta — averaged 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists for the Dukes in 2023-24.
He also shot shot 42.7% from the field, 34.3% from 3-point range and 81.0% from the line.
The guard has spent the last four seasons at JMU and has one year of eligibility remaining.
Edwards was the Sun Belt Player of the Year last season and led the Dukes to an NCAA Tournament bid.
No. 12 JMU upset No. 5 Wisconsin in the first round before falling to Duke.
Kelsey has landed two of his former Charleston players so far in the portal as well.
Edwards will be joining former Charleston point guard Reyne Smith and former Charleston center James Scott on Louisville’s 24-25 roster.
