“Jimmy Page Launches New Guitar Line Inspired by His Vintage Les Paul”

Limited edition models pay tribute to his signature sound from “Whole Lotta Love”

Legendary Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page has thrilled fans and guitar enthusiasts alike with the announcement of a brand-new signature guitar line, meticulously crafted to honor the sound and soul of his iconic 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard – the very instrument that helped shape rock history with the unforgettable riff of “Whole Lotta Love.”

Unveiled at a private event in London, the limited edition guitar series, named “The Page Standard”, is the product of a multi-year collaboration between Page and a select group of master luthiers from Gibson’s Custom Shop. Each instrument in the line is designed to faithfully replicate the tone, look, and feel of his original “Number One” Les Paul – down to the last solder joint, finish crackle, and pickup configuration.

“This isn’t just a guitar. It’s a time machine,” Page said during the launch. “I wanted to give players, young and old, a chance to hold in their hands something that truly connects to the spirit of the music we made back then. This guitar was my voice on ‘Whole Lotta Love,’ ‘Stairway to Heaven,’ and so much more. Now it can be someone else’s voice, too.”

The guitar comes in two main finishes: Aged Heritage Burst and Vintage Amber Glow, both developed to mimic the wear and patina of Page’s original instrument. The specs are as meticulous as expected: hand-wound humbuckers that mirror the output of the late-’50s PAFs, period-correct wiring, a slim neck profile modeled from scans of Page’s original neck, and an ultra-lightweight mahogany body paired with a carved maple top.

Only 500 units of the “Collector’s Edition” will be produced worldwide, each individually numbered and signed by Jimmy Page himself. These will include a hard case styled after his original tour case, a certificate of authenticity, and a leather-bound book of behind-the-scenes photos and notes from Page’s personal archives.

For those who can’t get their hands on the limited run – or the $25,000 price tag that comes with it – a more accessible “Player’s Edition” will be released later in the year at a more affordable price point, still maintaining the core tonewood and pickup design but omitting some of the handcrafted relic treatments.

Music critics and guitar legends have already praised the instrument. Joe Bonamassa, a known vintage guitar collector, remarked, “It’s spooky how close this gets to Jimmy’s original tone. You plug it in, and you’re halfway to The Song Remains the Same before you even hit a chord.”

Page, who’s remained relatively quiet on the musical front in recent years, views the guitar line not just as a commercial product but as a legacy project. “I’ve been offered dozens of guitar deals over the years,” he said. “But I waited until it could be done properly – with heart, integrity, and devotion to the craft. This guitar was my Excalibur, and I want it to continue forging sonic journeys for generations.”

Alongside the guitar launch, Gibson has announced an upcoming YouTube documentary mini-series, “Tone of the Gods: Building the Page Standard,” which will follow the process of recreating the guitar and explore Page’s relationship with his gear throughout his Zeppelin years and beyond.

Fans and collectors can register interest on the Gibson Custom Shop website starting next week. With the demand already soaring and the legend of Jimmy Page only growing with time, The Page Standard is poised to become not just a guitar, but a piece of rock and

roll history reborn.
